Demarcation went live on Dazed Digital yesterday. Overall, the response to the project was overwhelmingly great, and many more people came forward to participate, and share their stories. There was, however, one negative comment which sticks in your mind, which was commented on the article. The feature has over 500 shares on facebook yesterday – more than I could possibly reach independently.
Here is the comment
” A well written story which suffers only from a lack of compelling photos. The writer succeeded in creating a sense of connection with the subjects, while the photos show only the covers of passports and expressionless people – who for some reason were not photographed at the London locations they most loved, but against walls, etc.”
And here we have someone who has completely misunderstood the point of the project, and what a photo essay is – the photos support the story, the story supports the photos.
